Hurry up! (and February travel bouts)

Wrecking Bill says howdy

First, the good news:  a selection from February’s travel bouts are finally up (because I am a slacker):

And the bad news:  they took a while.  So hey, let’s talk about why!

Richard Simmons approves of this message (maybe).

It’s time we had a talk.  You’re just not moving around enough. If your photos were Deal-A-Meal cards, you’d have some serious nutrient deficiency.  And you know that if you don’t move around, if you’re not active enough, Richard Simmons will start weeping and hugging you.  And while I’m sure he’s a good hugger and all, that might a bit awkward while you’re trying to take pictures.  So let’s get up and move around (at bouts)

Where’s MY picture? (and March local league bouts)

In this episode, we have some photos from recent St. Louis bouts:

the legendary Bat Wing

You may note that the list does not include M-80s or Stunt Devils.  Unfortunately, there was a little bit of a capacity constraint that led to me running video for that bout instead of taking photos.  I don’t want to muddy the waters but let me just say that fire codes can suck it.  This explains why there are no M-80 or Stunt Devil photos this month, but let’s talk about the question that everyone always asks:  WHY DON’T YOU HAVE MORE PICTURES OF ME? The quick news: the bouts from February local league are here:

The longer story comes after the break: how I choose what to put up and why the numbers on Flickr/Facebook from each bout vary.

2010 North Central Regionals – whoa!

My brain is still melted after Thunda on the Tundra, the 2010 WFTDA North Central Regional tournament.  While my favorite home team, the Arch Rival Roller Girls, did not fare as well as they had hoped, I think that they gained some really valuable insight both on and off the track that will help them immensely.  And you can’t ever discount their effort or heart.  They were fighting until the last whistle on Sunday, just like they always do.

As for the other teams, I have to say that my favorite teams to watch were North Star Roller Girls, Madison Mad Rollin’ Dolls, and a good square tie between Windy City Rollers and Minnesota Roller Girls.  MNRG totally stole the tournament, even though they came in second place.  Chicago wasn’t as amazing as I had seen in the past until the last day, when it really counted, and then they showed everyone why they’re still #1 spot in North Central.
